Brake Caliper Piston with a stainless steel body for the hydraulic disc brake caliper, 46mm diameter and 30.68mm height.

The piston sits within the caliper bore and transfers hydraulic pressure from the brake fluid to the brake pad, pressing the pad against the disc to generate braking force. It is sealed in the bore by the caliper piston seal and protected by the dust boot. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion and pitting within the bore.

Frequently asked questions

What is the STC201S stainless steel caliper piston?
The STC201S is a 46mm front brake caliper piston with a stainless steel body, for the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006). It works inside the caliper bore, transferring brake fluid pressure onto the pad to press it against the disc. It's sold individually.
What's the advantage of a stainless steel caliper piston?
The stainless steel body resists the corrosion and pitting that attack standard pistons inside the caliper bore. On the Defender, where brakes see plenty of water and salt, a stainless STC201S piston typically lasts longer and is less likely to seize or tear the seal than a plain steel piston.
How many STC201S pistons do I need for a caliper rebuild?
The STC201S is sold each. A Defender front caliper typically holds more than one 46mm piston, so a full rebuild needs one per bore along with new seals. Check your caliper and order the matching quantity for a balanced result.
Does the STC201S fit my Defender?
The STC201S fits the front brake caliper of the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006) and is 46mm in diameter. Confirm your caliper takes the 46mm piston, as bore sizes vary, before ordering the stainless steel version.
