Power Steering Box of the Adwest lightweight type, right-hand drive, supplied complete with the drop arm.
The steering box is the mechanical heart of the steering hydraulic circuit. Rotation of the steering column shaft enters the box input; pressurised fluid delivered by the power steering pump through the high-pressure feed hose is metered by the internal rotary valve to assist the recirculating-ball mechanism, and spent fluid leaves through the return hose to the reservoir. The resulting motion swings the sector shaft and drop arm, which drives the drag link to the swivel steering arm.
Internal wear typically shows as free play at the steering wheel, wander at speed, or fluid weeping past the sector shaft seal.
