Frequently asked questions

What is the Oil Cooler Hose Pipe used for?
The Oil Cooler Hose Pipe carries automatic transmission fluid between the gearbox and the external oil cooler on the Discovery 2. It's the right-hand pipe in the automatic transmission cooling circuit, keeping ATF temperature controlled on Td5 automatic models. Part number UBP101610.
Where is the oil cooler pipe located on a Discovery 2?
The oil cooler pipe runs along the right-hand side of the engine bay on the Discovery 2, linking the automatic gearbox to the external transmission oil cooler. It's the RH pipe in the cooling circuit and typically routes toward the front-mounted cooler.
What are the signs the oil cooler pipe needs replacing?
Replace the oil cooler pipe when it leaks automatic transmission fluid, usually at the end fittings where corrosion and age cause seepage. Signs include red ATF drips under the right-hand engine bay and dropping transmission fluid level. A failing pipe can starve the automatic gearbox of cooling.
Does this pipe fit all Discovery 2 models?
This pipe fits Discovery 2 models with the 2.5L Td5 diesel and automatic transmission. Manual gearbox cars use a different arrangement, so confirm your vehicle has the automatic transmission oil cooler circuit before ordering. Cross-reference ESR4642 is listed as an alternative.
