Crankshaft Oil Flinger for the 2.5L 300 TDi diesel engine, fitted to the front of the crankshaft within the timing cover assembly.

The flinger seats behind the crankshaft pulley and ahead of the front crankshaft oil seal, throwing oil radially outward so it cannot collect at and degrade the seal lip. It is renewed whenever the front cover or the crankshaft front oil seal is disturbed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ERR2100 flinger used for on a 300TDi engine?
The ERR2100 is a crankshaft oil flinger for the 2.5L 300TDi diesel engine. It sits on the front of the crankshaft, behind the pulley and ahead of the front crankshaft oil seal, throwing oil outward so it can't collect at and degrade the seal lip. Fitted to Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic 300TDi.
When should the crankshaft flinger be replaced?
Replace the flinger whenever the timing cover or front crankshaft oil seal is disturbed. It's typically renewed as standard during front seal or timing cover work, since a worn or distorted flinger can let oil reach and prematurely fail the new seal.
Where does the flinger sit on the 300TDi engine?
The flinger sits at the front of the crankshaft, inside the timing cover, between the crankshaft pulley and the front oil seal. It's part of the engine front cover assembly on the 2.5L 300TDi.
