Oil Cooler Pipe - the pipe carrying engine oil from the engine to the oil cooler within the lubrication cooling circuit of the 2.5L 4-cylinder TDi diesel.

It forms the engine-to-cooler leg of the circuit, feeding hot oil from the engine to the front-mounted oil cooler where heat is shed before the oil returns to the lubrication system. The companion cooler-to-engine return pipe is ESR3690.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ESR3691 oil cooler pipe used for?
The ESR3691 oil cooler pipe carries engine oil from the engine to the oil cooler on the 2.5L 4-cylinder TDi diesel. It forms the engine-to-cooler feed leg of the circuit, feeding hot oil to the front-mounted oil cooler where heat is shed before the oil returns to the lubrication system.
What's the difference between the ESR3691 and ESR3690 oil cooler pipes?
The ESR3691 is the engine-to-cooler feed pipe, carrying hot oil from the engine to the oil cooler. The ESR3690 is the cooler-to-engine return pipe that runs the other way. They serve different legs of the circuit and aren't interchangeable, so confirm which pipe your job needs.
Which models does the ESR3691 oil cooler pipe fit?
The ESR3691 fits the Defender 300Tdi (from VIN MA939976), Discovery 1 TDi (from VIN MA081992, 1989 to 1998), and Range Rover Classic 2.5 TDi (1992 to 1994, from VIN JA610294). The Land Rover part number is PBP500200. Use your VIN to confirm the correct build.
Why does an oil cooler pipe fail on a TDi?
Oil cooler pipes on the TDi typically corrode, and the flexible sections perish with age and heat, causing oil weeps or leaks. Common signs are oil pooling around the cooler unions or a gradually dropping oil level. Replacing the pipe restores a sealed oil-cooling circuit.
