Clutch Slave Cylinder Bleed Screw for the hydraulic clutch release circuit. It threads into the clutch slave cylinder, at the highest point of the fluid chamber.

Opening the screw releases trapped air from the slave cylinder when bleeding the system, restoring a firm pedal and full clutch release; closed, it seals the hydraulic circuit against fluid loss. A seized or rounded bleed screw is a common reason a slave cylinder cannot be bled and is renewed in its place.

Frequently asked questions

What is the clutch slave bleed screw used for?
The clutch slave bleed screw threads into the clutch slave cylinder at the highest point of the fluid chamber. Opening it releases trapped air when bleeding the hydraulic clutch, restoring a firm pedal and full clutch release. Closed, it seals the circuit against fluid loss.
Which Land Rovers does this bleed screw fit?
This clutch slave bleed screw fits the Defender 300TDi and TD5, Discovery 1 300TDi, Discovery 2 TD5, Range Rover Classic 300TDi (1994-1996) and Series III Stage 1 V8, all using the hydraulic clutch release circuit.
Why replace the bleed screw rather than reuse the old one?
A seized or rounded bleed screw is a common reason a clutch slave cylinder can't be bled. Fitting a new screw is typically quicker and safer than fighting a corroded one, and restores a clean sealing face for the hydraulic circuit.
How many bleed screws do I need for the job?
You typically need one bleed screw per clutch slave cylinder. It's usually opened and closed with a small spanner while bleeding the clutch, so having a fresh screw ready avoids delays if the original shears.
