Aftermarket Part

Track Rod Assembly is the complete steering track rod that links the front wheels across the axle, forming part of the steering linkage.

The assembly is a centre bar carrying a track rod end at each side; it transfers steering movement to both steering arms and sets the front-wheel toe. Supplying the rod complete with both ends restores correct steering geometry in a single part. The ball-jointed ends are also available separately as the short-arm end QFS000010 and long-arm end QFS000040.

Each track rod end is secured with nut ANR1000 (two required).

Frequently asked questions

What is the track rod assembly and what does it do?
The track rod assembly is the complete steering track rod that links the front wheels across the axle. It's a centre bar with a track rod end at each side, transferring steering movement to both steering arms and setting the front-wheel toe. This one fits the Discovery 2 (1999-2004).
What are the signs a track rod or its ends are worn?
Worn track rod ends usually show as steering play, uneven or rapid front tyre wear, and knocking over bumps. On the Discovery 2 the ball joints at each end wear with age. Supplying the rod complete with both ends restores correct steering geometry in one part.
What secures the track rod ends when fitting?
Each track rod end is secured with an M12 lock nut, part ANR1000, and two are needed for the assembly. After fitting, the front toe must be reset on an alignment rig so the steering tracks straight and front tyre wear stays even.
