Oil Separator Drain Hose - Engine Breather is the rubber drain hose that returns separated oil from the crankcase breather oil separator back to the engine sump.

The hose forms part of the crankcase ventilation system. As blow-by gases pass through the breather oil separator, oil droplets are captured and collected; this hose channels that oil back to the sump rather than allowing it to accumulate in the breather assembly or enter the intake tract. Correct condition of this hose is important for maintaining effective crankcase ventilation.

Frequently asked questions

What does the oil separator drain hose do?
The oil separator drain hose returns separated oil from the crankcase breather oil separator back to the engine sump. It's part of the crankcase ventilation system, channelling captured oil droplets to the sump instead of letting them reach the intake. It fits the Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic 2.5L TDi and 300TDi.
Why does the breather drain hose need replacing?
The breather drain hose typically perishes, hardens, or splits with age and exposure to heat and oil, which can let it leak or collapse and upset crankcase ventilation. Replace it if the rubber is cracked, swollen, or soft, as a failed hose can cause oil misting or crankcase pressure build-up.
How do I confirm this hose fits my vehicle?
On the Discovery 1 this hose fits the 2.5L TDi (Gem EGR) and 300TDi up to VIN MA081992; on the Range Rover Classic it fits the 2.5L TDi from VIN JA610294. Check your VIN against these breaks to confirm the correct breather setup before ordering.
