Geplaatst bij de koppeling wordt deze gecomprimeerd tussen de brandstofleidingfitting en het pomphuis wanneer de koppeling wordt aangedraaid, waardoor een brandstofdichte afdichting bij de verbinding ontstaat. Deze wordt vervangen telkens wanneer de brandstofleiding wordt losgekoppeld om lekkage van de verbinding te voorkomen.
