What does the AEU2719L vacuum pump O-ring do?

The AEU2719L O-ring seals the diesel vacuum pump at its mounting joint. On diesels the pump supplies the vacuum the brake servo needs, since a diesel makes no usable manifold vacuum. This O-ring holds that seal at the pump interface so vacuum isn't lost. It's fitted to 2.5L diesel engines including the 200TDi.
