Frequently asked questions

What is the ESR359 exhaust tailpipe used for?

The ESR359 exhaust tailpipe is the terminal section of the exhaust on the Defender 110 and 130 200Tdi (2.5L 4-cylinder), fitted downstream of the rear silencer. It routes the silenced exhaust gases to the rear of the vehicle and forms the exit point of the exhaust system.

Does this tailpipe fit a Defender 90?

No, the ESR359 tailpipe is for the Defender 110 and 130 with the 200Tdi engine, 1983 to 2006, in non-Australian specification. The 90 wheelbase and Australian-spec vehicles use different tailpipes, so confirm your wheelbase and market before ordering.

Why does an exhaust tailpipe fail on a Defender?

The tailpipe on a Defender typically fails through corrosion, as condensation and road salt collect at the rear of the exhaust where moisture lingers. Signs are rust perforation, a blowing note near the rear, and rattles. Replacing the tailpipe restores a clean, sealed exhaust exit.
