What is the NTC3346 banjo bolt used for?

The NTC3346 banjo bolt connects a diesel fuel pipe to its port at the fuel filter. It's a hollow bolt that clamps the banjo union while letting fuel flow through the drilling. Fitted to the fuel pipework on the 2.5 TDi Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic diesels.

How many banjo bolts are needed for the fuel filter?

On the 2.5 TDi Defender the NTC3346 banjo bolt is used 2 per vehicle on the fuel filter pipes, to VIN (V)MA939976. The bolt is supplied individually, so order two if you're replacing both fuel filter unions. Quantities vary on Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic diesels.

Do I need new sealing washers when fitting the banjo bolt?

Typically yes. Banjo unions seal with copper or aluminium crush washers that deform on tightening, so they're usually replaced rather than reused to avoid fuel weeps. The NTC3346 bolt itself can normally be reused if its threads and faces are sound. Check both sealing faces are clean before refitting.
