What does the RTC3511 radial oil seal do?

RTC3511 is a radial oil seal fitted between the wheel hub and stub axle in the hub assembly. It retains lubricant in the wheel bearing hub and prevents water and road debris from entering through the stub-axle interface, protecting the bearing pack.

Are there VIN restrictions on RTC3511?

Yes. It fits Series 2, 2A and 3 from 1981, Defender to VIN KA930455 (90 to axle number 22S08283B, 110 to axle number 21S22954B) and Range Rover Classic to 1985 from 1975/76. Later Defenders and Range Rover Classics use an updated hub design with a different seal.

What's the difference between RTC3511 and RTC3511G?

Both are the same seal for the same applications. RTC3511 is the aftermarket version; RTC3511G is the OEM-grade equivalent. FRC8221 is a Land Rover cross-reference that RTC3511 correctly replaces. The choice is aftermarket vs OEM preference.
