It gives enough reach to connect from an outside mounting point to the points terminal. If your condenser sits inside the distributor, you'll typically want the shorter standard lead instead.

Which distributor does the RTC6621 fit?

The RTC6621 fits Lucas-pattern distributors on Series 2, Series 3 and Defender 2.25L and 2.5L petrol engines. It won't match a Ducellier distributor, which uses a different condenser. Check your distributor maker's marking before ordering to make sure you get the right one.
