Frequently asked questions

What is the Rocker Cover Gasket Exhaust 2.0L IOE used for?
The Rocker Cover Gasket Exhaust seals the exhaust side rocker cover joint on the 2.0L IOE, or inlet over exhaust, engine. It fits between the rocker cover and the cylinder head on the exhaust side to contain engine oil. It is used on Land Rover Series 1 and very early Series 2 88 inch.
How is this different from the inlet side gasket?
This is the exhaust side gasket for the 2.0L IOE engine. Because the inlet over exhaust layout seals the inlet and exhaust sides separately, the two sides use different gaskets. Confirm you need the exhaust side gasket for your Series 1 or early Series 2 before ordering to avoid fitting the wrong one.
What are the signs this gasket needs replacing?
A failing exhaust side rocker cover gasket usually shows as oil seeping at the cover joint on the 2.0L IOE engine. The gasket hardens with age and heat and loses its seal. Replace it once oil traces appear around the exhaust side of the rocker cover on your Series Land Rover.
