277388 - Timing Chain Tensioner
The tensioner bears against the slack side of the timing chain and is spring-loaded to compensate for wear and thermal expansion. A worn or seized tensioner allows chain slack to build up, leading to timing noise, accelerated sprocket and chain wear, and eventually timing errors that affect engine performance.
