Coolant Expansion Tank Cap – the pressure-relief cap that seals the cooling system's expansion (header) tank.

Rated to 15 psi, it holds the system under pressure to raise the coolant boiling point and vents through an integral relief valve when that pressure is exceeded, drawing coolant back from the overflow as the system cools. For Non-TDi engine applications.

Frequently asked questions

What does the coolant expansion tank cap do?
The coolant expansion tank cap seals and pressurises the cooling system's header tank. Rated to 15 psi, it holds pressure to raise the coolant's boiling point and vents through a relief valve if pressure climbs too high, drawing coolant back from the overflow as the engine cools.
Why does it matter that this is a 15 psi Non-TDi cap?
This cap is rated at 15 psi and is for Non-TDi engines. The pressure rating must match your cooling system, as TDi and Td5 engines use a different cap. Fitting the wrong pressure cap can cause overheating or burst hoses, so check your engine type before ordering.
Which Land Rovers does this 15 psi cap fit?
This 15 psi cap fits the Series III, Defender 1987-2006 (except TDi and Td5 engines), Discovery 1 1989-1998 (3.5L V8 twin-carb petrol, VIN FA393361 to WA799999), and Range Rover Classic 1986-1991. TDi and Td5 models need a different cap, so confirm your engine first.
