Genuine Part
Genuine: Original manufacturer part. This product is the original part designed and produced by the vehicle manufacturer.
Flame Trap Hose is a crankcase breather hose in the ventilation system of the 3.5L V8 twin-carburettor petrol engine.

It carries breather gases between the flame trap and the induction system, completing the crankcase ventilation path while the flame trap guards against flashback into the crankcase. The moulded hose perishes and cracks with age and heat exposure and is replaced to keep the breather circuit sealed and functioning correctly.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Flame Trap Hose and what does it do?
The Flame Trap Hose is a crankcase breather hose in the ventilation system of the 3.5L V8 twin-carburettor petrol engine. It carries breather gases between the flame trap and the induction system, completing the crankcase ventilation path on the Land Rover Defender.
Why does the flame trap hose need replacing?
The moulded hose perishes and cracks with age and under-bonnet heat, which lets the breather circuit leak. A split hose can cause oil mist leaks and unmetered air, so it's usually replaced once it hardens or cracks. Renewing it keeps the crankcase breather sealed.
How do I confirm this hose fits my engine?
This flame trap hose fits the Land Rover Defender with the 3.5L V8 twin-carburettor petrol engine. It's specific to the twin-carb breather system, so confirm your engine is the carburettor V8 rather than the later EFI V8 before ordering.
