Exhaust Manifold Locking Washer that secures the exhaust manifold fixings to the cylinder head.

The tab washer fits under the manifold bolt or nut and is bent up against a flat once tightened, locking the fastener so it cannot work loose under the repeated heat-cycling and vibration of the exhaust system. It is renewed whenever the manifold is removed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the exhaust manifold locking washer for?
The exhaust manifold locking washer is a tab washer that fits under the manifold bolt or nut. Once tightened, the tab is bent up against a flat to lock the fastener so it can't work loose under the repeated heat-cycling and vibration of the exhaust system.
Can the locking washer be reused?
Reusing the tab washer isn't advised. It's typically renewed whenever the exhaust manifold is removed, because the locking tab has already been bent once and won't hold securely a second time. Fit a new washer each time the manifold comes off.
Which models and engines use this locking washer?
It fits V8 exhaust manifolds on the Defender, Discovery 1, Range Rover Classic and Series III Stage 1, plus the VM diesel on the Range Rover Classic. Check your engine and manifold type, as fitment is tied to the manifold fixing design.
