Description:
Tappet Slide for Land Rover 4-cylinder engines, covering the Series I, Series II, Series IIA, and Series III (2.0L Diesel and 2.25L Petrol and Diesel), the Defender (all 4-cylinder engines up to and including the 300TDi, excluding the 2.0L MPi), the Discovery 1 (200TDi and 300TDi), and the Range Rover Classic from 1986 to 1994 (200TDi and 300TDi).
The tappet slide (also known as a cam follower slide) guides the tappet in its bore within the engine block, controlling lateral movement as it follows the camshaft lobe. Wear to the slide face causes erratic tappet travel and accelerated valve train wear.
