Oil Cooler Adaptor Gasket for the Rover V8 petrol engine, part of the engine lubrication circuit.

It seals the joint between the oil cooler adaptor and the engine at the oil filter take-off, where pressurised oil is routed out to the external oil cooler and back through the filter. A failed gasket here leaks oil under pressure, so it should be renewed whenever the adaptor is disturbed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ERR852 oil cooler adaptor gasket used for?
The ERR852 oil cooler adaptor gasket seals the joint between the oil cooler adaptor and the Rover V8 petrol engine at the oil filter take-off. Pressurised oil routes through the adaptor out to the external oil cooler and back through the filter, and this gasket seals that connection.
Where does the oil cooler adaptor sit on the V8?
The oil cooler adaptor mounts at the oil filter take-off on the Rover V8, in the lubrication circuit. It carries oil out to the external oil cooler and back through the filter, so the gasket sits between the adaptor and the engine at the filter housing area.
Why does the oil cooler adaptor gasket fail?
The oil cooler adaptor gasket typically hardens and fails with age and heat, and because it seals pressurised oil, a failure shows as an oil leak around the filter take-off. It's best renewed whenever the adaptor or oil cooler pipes are disturbed rather than refitting the old gasket.
Which vehicles does this gasket fit?
This gasket fits the Rover V8 petrol engine in the Land Rover Defender, Discovery 1 and 2, and Range Rover Classic and P38, where an oil cooler adaptor is fitted. Confirm your engine has the oil cooler take-off, and use your VIN to verify the variant before ordering.
