Top Coolant Hose for the V8 petrol engine, part of the engine cooling circuit.

The upper radiator hose carries heated coolant from the engine outlet at the thermostat housing to the inlet at the top of the radiator, where heat is shed before the coolant returns to the engine through the lower hose. It is moulded to a fixed shape to route around the surrounding components.

Supplied as a single moulded hose.

The top coolant hose carries hot coolant from the engine outlet at the thermostat housing to the top of the radiator on the V8 petrol engine. Heat is shed in the radiator before the coolant returns to the engine through the lower hose.

Which models does this top hose fit?

Fits the V8 petrol Discovery 1 (up to VIN MA098379) and Range Rover Classic (1986, up to VIN MA652457). These are early VIN cut-offs, so check your VIN before ordering, as later V8 cooling layouts use a different hose.

Is this a moulded hose or a straight length?

It's a pre-moulded hose shaped to route around the surrounding components, not a cut-to-length straight hose. Fit it the correct way round so the bends clear the engine and ancillaries.

When should the top coolant hose be replaced?

Replace the hose if it's swollen, cracked, soft or weeping at the ends, or as a precaution during a cooling system overhaul. A split top hose on the V8 loses coolant fast and can overheat the engine.
