Frequently asked questions

What does the Heater Hose (BTR8727) do?
The Heater Hose (BTR8727) is a moulded coolant hose in the heater circuit. It connects the heater control valve to the heater matrix, carrying hot engine coolant to the heater core so cabin temperature can be regulated. It's shaped to follow the fixed routing between the valve and the bulkhead feed.
What are the signs the heater hose needs replacing?
A failing heater hose usually shows as coolant leaks, damp footwells near the bulkhead, or a sweet coolant smell in the cabin. Moulded hoses like this go hard and crack with age and heat cycling. Replace it if it's perished, swollen or weeping coolant.
Which engines and models does the BTR8727 heater hose fit?
The BTR8727 heater hose fits the Discovery 1 with V8 Petrol EFI, V8 Twin Carb and TDi engines, plus the Range Rover Classic 1992-1994 V8 Petrol. Fitment is tied to VIN breaks, so check your chassis number against the listing, as the moulded shape is specific to these applications.
Is the BTR8727 heater hose still available?
The BTR8727 is a genuine Land Rover heater hose that becomes unavailable once current stock ends (NLA). If you're maintaining a Discovery 1 or Range Rover Classic V8, it's worth securing the part while stock remains rather than waiting until it's needed.
