Frequently asked questions

What is the half shaft FRC1644?
The FRC1644 is the rear right-hand half shaft with a 10/24 spline count, ten splines at the differential end and twenty-four at the hub end. It transmits drive from the rear differential to the right rear wheel hub on the Series II/IIA/III axle.
Which side is it and how many do I need?
This is the right-hand rear shaft, sold individually. The opposite side uses the left-hand shaft, FRC1645. If one shaft is worn or sheared, it's common to inspect or replace both sides.
What does 10/24 spline mean and will it fit my axle?
10/24 spline means ten splines at the differential end and twenty-four at the hub end, which distinguishes it from earlier single-spline shafts. It fits Series II/IIA/III (from 1980/81) and Defender axles using the 10/24 spline. Count your splines to confirm.
Is anything else included for fitting?
The shaft is supplied plain, without the hub nut, thread or split pin. Reuse your existing fixings if they're sound, or source the hub nut and split pin separately when fitting.
