Oil Seal for the LT230 transfer box input shaft. Part of the transfer box gear train.

The seal fits around the rotating input shaft where it enters the transfer box casing, retaining the gear oil while excluding dirt and water from the adjacent bearing. It maintains lubrication at the input gear and prevents leakage past the shaft.

Frequently asked questions

What does the FRC2365 oil seal do?
The FRC2365 oil seal fits around the LT230 transfer box input shaft where it enters the casing. It retains the transfer box gear oil while keeping dirt and water out of the adjacent bearing, maintaining lubrication at the input gear and preventing leaks past the rotating shaft.
Which models use the FRC2365 LT230 input shaft seal?
The FRC2365 fits the LT230 transfer box on the Defender 1987-2016 (2007-on Puma from VIN 7A000001), Discovery 1, Discovery 2 and Range Rover Classic. As it's tied to the LT230 unit rather than a specific engine, confirm your vehicle has the LT230 transfer case.
What are the signs the LT230 input shaft seal needs replacing?
A failed input shaft oil seal usually shows as transfer box oil weeping or dripping from the front of the LT230, near the gearbox-to-transfer-box joint. Left unchecked it can drop the oil level and risk bearing wear, so renew it whenever the unit is split.
Should the seal be replaced when the transfer box is opened?
Yes, it's good practice to fit a new FRC2365 input shaft seal whenever the LT230 is removed or split, since access is limited once it's reassembled. Replacing the seal while the unit is apart usually avoids a repeat oil leak shortly after.
