What does the gearbox breather do?
The gearbox breather vents internal pressure from the gearbox or transfer case casing. Heat and gear movement build pressure inside, and the breather lets it escape so oil isn't forced past the seals. It's fitted to Defender, Discovery 1 and 2, and Range Rover Classic transmissions.
What happens if the gearbox breather blocks?
