Brand Delphi
Lower Ball Joint - Front Hub for the front axle steering knuckle (swivel housing) assembly.

The knuckle pivots on an upper and a lower ball joint; this lower joint forms the bottom pivot point that lets the front wheel assembly swivel for steering while carrying suspension and braking loads. It is a common wear item - play here causes steering wander, knock over bumps and uneven tyre wear, and the joints are usually renewed in pairs with the upper joint FTC3570.

Frequently asked questions

What is the FTC3571Z lower ball joint for?
The FTC3571Z is the front lower swivel ball joint for the Discovery 2 (1998-2004) and Range Rover P38 (1994-2002), carrying the Land Rover reference FTC3571. It forms the bottom steering pivot and supports suspension and braking loads through the front hub.
How many lower ball joints are needed per vehicle?
One FTC3571Z is fitted to each front swivel, so two are required to do both sides. The lower joints are typically replaced together with the upper ball joints FTC3570 when overhauling the front suspension.
When should the FTC3571Z be replaced?
Replace the FTC3571Z when the front lower joint develops play, which typically shows as steering wander, knocking over bumps, or uneven tyre wear on the Discovery 2 and Range Rover P38. Levering the wheel at the bottom usually reveals the movement.
