Con Rod Bearing Set - connecting rod big-end bearing shells for the 2.25L four-cylinder engine.

The con rod bearings sit between the connecting rod big-ends and the crankshaft crankpins, carrying the combustion and inertia loads as the pistons drive the crankshaft. This set is machined 0.020" undersize, for crankpins that have been reground to the matching undersize. Supplied as a complete set for all cylinders.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Con Rod Bearing Set for the 2.25L engine?
The con rod bearing set provides the big-end bearing shells that sit between the connecting rods and the crankshaft crankpins on the 2.25L four-cylinder engine. They carry the combustion and inertia loads as the pistons drive the crank. This set covers all four cylinders.
What does the .020 undersize mean on this bearing set?
The .020 undersize means the shells are machined 0.020 inches smaller than standard, to suit crankpins reground 0.020 inches undersize. Match the bearing size to your crankshaft's regrind, or the running clearance will be wrong.
What are the signs the con rod bearings need replacing?
Worn con rod bearings on the 2.25L engine typically show as a deep knocking noise from the block that rises with load, along with low oil pressure. Left unchecked they can fail and damage the crankshaft. They're usually replaced during an engine rebuild or crank regrind.
Which Land Rovers does this 2.25L bearing set fit?
This set fits the 2.25L four-cylinder engine in the Land Rover Series 2, 2A and 3 (1958-1985, petrol and diesel) and the early Defender (1983-1990, 2.25L petrol). Confirm your crankshaft's regrind size to match the .020 undersize before ordering.
