Voltage Regulator (control box) of the screw-terminal type, for dynamo charging systems.

The control box is wired between the dynamo and the battery. It regulates the dynamo output as engine speed varies so that charging voltage stays within limits, and its cut-out relay disconnects the dynamo from the battery at low engine speed to stop the battery discharging back through the dynamo windings.

Cable connections are made to screw terminals. This unit is part of a dynamo charging system and is not interchangeable with an alternator installation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTC434 voltage regulator?
The RTC434 is a voltage regulator (control box) with screw terminals, used in the dynamo charging system on early Land Rover Series models. It regulates the dynamo's output to keep the battery charged without overcharging.
Which vehicles use the RTC434 regulator box?
The RTC434 suits the Series 1 and early Series 2A fitted with the screw-terminal regulator box. It's for the dynamo (not alternator) charging setup on these early models, so confirm your vehicle still runs a dynamo and control box.
How do I know if I need the screw-terminal type?
Check your existing regulator box terminals. The RTC434 uses screw terminals, matching early Series 1 and 2A control boxes. Later regulators and alternator-equipped cars use different connections, so compare the terminal style before ordering to be sure it fits.
