3649 - Selector Detent Spring
It loads the detent ball against the selector rail so each rail is held positively in its selected gear or in neutral, preventing the gear from creeping out of engagement. Worn or missing detent springs are a common cause of gears jumping out. Used on the 4- and 6-cylinder gearboxes; the reverse selector uses a separate spring (56102).
