Output Shaft Oil Seal seals the front or rear output shaft of the LT76 transfer gearbox, retaining lubricant within the transfer case and preventing oil from escaping where the output shaft passes through the housing.

The same seal also serves as the differential pinion oil seal in certain early applications.

The FRC1780G oil seal seals the front or rear output shaft of the LT76 transfer gearbox, retaining lubricant inside the transfer case where the output shaft passes through the housing. On very early Series 1 80 inch models it also served as the differential pinion seal.

Which models use the LT76 transfer gearbox output shaft seal?

This seal fits the LT76 transfer gearbox used across all Land Rover Series models from 1948 to 1983, including the Series I, II and III. It doesn't fit the Stage 1 V8 or 101 Forward Control, which use the LT95 gearbox. Check your transfer box type before ordering.

When should the transfer gearbox output shaft seal be replaced?

Replace the output shaft seal when oil leaks from the transfer box around the output flange, or whenever the flange is removed for other work. The seal lip typically hardens and wears with age and heat, letting lubricant escape down the propshaft and onto the underbody.
