Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor for the anti-lock braking system. Mounted at the front wheel hub, the sensor reads the toothed reluctor ring as the wheel turns and feeds the resulting wheel-speed signal to the ABS control unit, which uses it to detect impending wheel lock and modulate brake pressure.

A failed sensor typically triggers the ABS warning lamp and suspends anti-lock function on that wheel.

Frequently asked questions

What does the STC2786 front ABS sensor do?
The STC2786 is a front ABS wheel speed sensor. Mounted at the front wheel hub, it reads the toothed reluctor ring as the wheel turns and sends the wheel-speed signal to the ABS control unit, which uses it to detect impending wheel lock and modulate brake pressure. It fits the Range Rover P38 (1994-2001).
What are the symptoms of a failed front ABS sensor?
A failed front ABS sensor typically lights the ABS warning lamp and suspends anti-lock braking on that wheel. You may also see the traction control light and related dashboard messages on the Range Rover P38. Normal braking usually continues, but the anti-lock function won't operate until the sensor is replaced.
Can I fit the STC2786 ABS sensor myself?
Fitting the STC2786 front ABS sensor is typically a straightforward DIY job, usually held by a single bolt at the front hub. The main difficulty is often a seized retaining bolt after years in service. Once fitted, the ABS warning light should clear when the system reads a valid wheel-speed signal again.
