Engine Stud is a threaded fastening stud used in the cylinder head and manifold assemblies of the four-cylinder engine.

It provides the fixed threaded anchor against which a nut is torqued down: securing the cylinder head to the block on the 2.5L four-cylinder diesel engine (naturally aspirated and turbocharged), and retaining the inlet and exhaust manifold on the 2.25L four-cylinder petrol engine. Supplied individually.

Frequently asked questions

What is the engine stud used for?
The engine stud is a threaded anchor stud, M8 x 35, used in the four-cylinder engine. It secures the cylinder head to the block on the 2.5L four-cylinder diesel (naturally aspirated and turbo) and retains the inlet and exhaust manifold on the 2.25L four-cylinder petrol.
How many engine studs do I need?
The engine stud is sold individually. A full cylinder head or manifold job typically uses a set of several studs, so order the exact number your engine requires rather than assuming one is enough.
Which vehicles does this engine stud fit?
This M8 x 35 engine stud fits the four-cylinder engine family in Defender (1987-2006) and Series II and III, covering the 2.5L diesel cylinder head and 2.25L petrol manifold applications.
Can the engine stud be reused?
An engine stud can usually be reused if its threads and shank are undamaged. Replace any stud that is stretched, corroded or has damaged threads, since a compromised stud will not clamp reliably when torqued.
