Frequently asked questions

What is the 571228R clutch cover assembly used for?

The 571228R is a clutch pressure cover assembly for the Series II and IIA clutch pressure system. It clamps the friction plate against the flywheel as part of the clutch mechanism.

Which vehicles does this clutch cover fit?

It fits Series II and Series IIA models running the 2.25 petrol engine's clutch pressure assembly, the same specification as the OEM 571228G version. Confirm your existing clutch matches before ordering.

Is this the same as the 571228G clutch cover?

They cover the same Series II/IIA application, but 571228R is the aftermarket version while 571228G is the OEM-quality equivalent. Either fits the same clutch pressure assembly.

Should this clutch cover be replaced as part of a clutch job?

Yes, it's standard practice to fit a new clutch cover alongside a new friction plate and release bearing, since replacing them as a set avoids mixing worn and new components in the same assembly.
