Camshaft Front Seal seals the front of the camshaft where it passes through the cylinder head behind the timing drive, retaining engine oil and preventing leakage onto the timing belt and front cover.

Fitted to the 1.8L K-Series 4-cylinder and 2.5L KV6 V6 petrol engines. It is routinely renewed during timing belt service or whenever the camshaft pulley or front cover is removed, to restore an oil-tight seal against the rotating camshaft.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Camshaft Front Seal do?
The Camshaft Front Seal seals the front of the camshaft behind the timing drive on Freelander 1 1.8 K-Series and 2.5 KV6 petrol engines. It keeps engine oil from leaking onto the timing belt and front cover.
When should the camshaft front seal be replaced?
Renew the camshaft front seal during timing belt service, or whenever the camshaft pulley or front cover is removed. Replacing it while the front of the engine is open restores an oil-tight seal for little extra cost.
Why fit a new seal with a timing belt?
A weeping camshaft front seal can drop oil onto the timing belt, which typically shortens belt life. Since the seal sits behind the timing drive, it's usually replaced as standard while the belt is off.
Which engines does this front seal fit?
It fits the Land Rover Freelander 1 with the 1.8 K-Series four-cylinder petrol and the 2.5 KV6 petrol engine. Confirm your engine with the VIN before ordering, as fitment depends on the engine fitted.
