Timing Belt - front timing belt for the 2.5L KV6 petrol engine.

Drives the camshafts in time with the crankshaft on the front cylinder bank, maintaining valve timing. The KV6 uses separate front and rear belts; this is the front belt. Replace at the specified service interval to avoid valve-to-piston contact.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LHN100410L front timing belt used for?
The LHN100410L is the front timing belt for the 2.5L KV6 petrol engine in the Freelander 1 (1996-2006). It drives the camshafts on the front cylinder bank in time with the crankshaft. The KV6 runs separate front and rear belts, and this is the front one. Made by Dayco.
Do I need the rear belt as well?
Yes, the KV6 uses a separate rear timing belt in addition to this front belt, so a full timing job needs both. Fitting only one leaves half the valvetrain on an old belt. Replace both belts together with their tensioners and idlers on the 2.5L KV6.
Why does the KV6 timing belt need replacing?
The KV6 timing belt needs replacing because the belt ages and can strip teeth or snap, and the 2.5L KV6 is an interference engine, so a failure lets valves hit pistons and wrecks the heads. Change it at the manufacturer's specified interval as a preventive job.
