PDWA Brake Failure Switch for the dual-circuit braking system, mounted on the brake master cylinder.

The PDWA (Pressure Differential Warning Actuator) switch monitors hydraulic pressure across both independent brake circuits. If a pressure differential is detected - indicating a fluid leak or circuit failure in one circuit - the switch activates the brake failure warning lamp on the instrument panel. This is the metric-thread type and installs directly onto the master cylinder.

Frequently asked questions

What does the PDWA brake failure switch do?
The PDWA (Pressure Differential Warning Actuator) switch monitors hydraulic pressure across both circuits of the dual-circuit braking system. If one circuit loses pressure through a leak or fault, the switch triggers the brake failure warning lamp on the instrument panel. It mounts directly on the brake master cylinder.
Which vehicle does the PRC2583 PDWA switch fit?
The PRC2583 fits the Range Rover Classic from 1986 to 1991, up to VIN HA610293, on the master cylinder and servo assembly. Confirm your chassis number against that VIN break before ordering.
How do I know if I need the metric-thread PDWA switch?
This is the metric-thread PDWA switch that installs directly onto the master cylinder. Range Rover Classics used more than one fitting type across the production run, so check the thread on your existing switch matches before fitting, as the wrong type won't seal correctly against the master cylinder port.
What are the signs this brake failure switch has failed?
A failed PDWA switch typically shows as a brake warning lamp that stays lit with no actual fluid loss, or one that fails to illuminate during a genuine circuit fault. As a safety-critical brake component, replace it if the warning system behaves inconsistently.
