Borgplaat voor as voor het borgsysteem van de naafmoer in de asmontage.

Deze borgring zit onder de naafmoer van de as, met lipjes die in machinaal bewerkte sleuven passen of over de platte moer worden gevouwen zodra het juiste aanhaalmoment is ingesteld. De ring voorkomt dat de naafmoer loskomt onder rijbelasting, en handhaaft de juiste voorspanning van het wiellager. Deze moet elke keer worden vervangen door een nieuwe ring wanneer de naafmoer wordt verwijderd en opnieuw wordt vastgedraaid.

What does the 217352 Axle Key Washer do?

This tab washer seats beneath the axle hub nut. Its tabs fold over the nut flat once the correct torque is set, preventing the hub nut from backing off under driving loads and maintaining correct wheel bearing preload.

Can the Axle Key Washer be reused after removing the hub nut?

No. Replace with a new washer every time the hub nut is removed and retorqued. A previously folded tab can't be re-locked reliably, and a loose hub nut puts the wheel bearing and hub assembly at risk.

Does this washer fit all Defenders, or only early models?

Fits Defender 1983-2006 up to VIN KA930455 only. Later Defenders use a different retention system. Also fits all Series I, II, IIA and III, and Range Rover Classic up to 1994 (see fitment note for ABS-variant VIN breaks on the Classic).
