Synchro Cone – LT76 is een synchronisatie-ring van het synchromesh-systeem van de handgeschakelde LT76 versnellingsbak. Het is het frictie-onderdeel dat de versnelling en de hoofdas op dezelfde snelheid brengt tijdens een schakelbeweging.

Wanneer de versnelling wordt ingeschakeld, wordt de conus tegen het bijpassende conische vlak op de versnelling gedrukt; de resulterende wrijving egaliseert hun snelheden, zodat de klauwtanden schoon kunnen ingrijpen zonder te botsen. De messing conus is een slijtageonderdeel dat in de versnellingsbakolie werkt.

Versleten of geglazuurde synchro cones zijn een veelvoorkomende oorzaak van kraken of haperen tijdens het schakelen, vooral bij snel schakelen, en worden vervangen tijdens een revisie van de versnellingsbak.

The synchro cone is the friction ring from the synchromesh assembly of the LT76 manual gearbox. As you select a gear, the brass cone presses against the matching cone face on the gear, and the friction brings the gear and mainshaft to the same speed so the dog teeth engage cleanly without clashing.
