Frequently asked questions

What does this oil cooler pipe O-ring do?
This O-ring seals the union between the oil cooler pipe and its mating port in the engine oil cooler circuit. It sits in the joint and stops pressurised engine oil leaking where the pipe meets the cooler or engine.
Should the O-ring be replaced when disturbing the oil cooler pipe?
Replace this O-ring whenever the oil cooler pipe union is undone. O-rings take a set once compressed and harden with age and heat, so a reused seal often weeps oil. Fit a new one and lightly lubricate it with clean engine oil before assembly.
Which engines and models use this oil cooler O-ring?
This O-ring fits the Defender 1987-2006 and Range Rover Classic with the 3.5L V8 carburettor engine and oil cooler (up to VIN FA429127), and the Series IIA 1961-1971 with the 2.25 diesel engine. Confirm your engine and VIN before ordering.
