Het wordt achter de aandrijfflens van het rondsel gemonteerd en omhult de olieafdichting van het rondsel en de neus van het differentieel om modder, gruis en water van het afdichtingsgebied te houden. Het op deze manier beschermen van de afdichting helpt voortijdige slijtage van de afdichting en olieverlies uit het rondsel te voorkomen.
