Distributor Cap mounts at the top of the distributor in the ignition system and carries the segment contacts that route high-tension voltage to the spark plug leads.

As the rotor arm turns beneath it, the cap distributes secondary ignition voltage from the coil to each cylinder in firing order through push-on HT leads. Suited to the 2.25L petrol engine up to engine suffix C.

Frequently asked questions

What does the distributor cap do on a Series Land Rover?
The distributor cap sits on top of the distributor and routes high-tension voltage from the coil to each spark plug lead in firing order. As the rotor arm turns beneath it, the cap distributes the spark to each cylinder. This Lucas-type cap uses push-on HT leads on the 2.25 petrol engine.
What does 'to suffix C' mean for fitment?
'To suffix C' means this cap suits 2.25 petrol engines up to engine suffix C. The suffix is part of the engine number stamped on the block. Later suffix engines typically used a different distributor, so check your engine suffix before ordering to avoid fitting the wrong cap.
What are the signs a distributor cap needs replacing?
A distributor cap usually needs replacing when you see cracks, carbon tracking or corroded segment contacts, which cause misfires, hard starting or rough running. On these older 2.25 petrol engines the cap and rotor arm are typically renewed together during an ignition service.
