Wheel Cylinder - LH Front for the front drum brake assembly on long wheelbase Series models.

This hydraulic wheel cylinder is mounted at the left-hand front brake backplate. Hydraulic pressure from the braking system forces the cylinder pistons outward, pressing the brake shoes against the drum to generate braking force at the front axle.

Frequently asked questions

What does Wheel Cylinder 600200 do on a Series Land Rover?
This is the left-hand front hydraulic wheel cylinder for the front drum brake assembly on Series II/IIA/III 109" (Long Wheelbase) models. It receives hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder and forces the pistons outward against the brake shoes, which press against the drum to generate braking force at the front left wheel.
Which Series models does Wheel Cylinder 600200 fit?
It fits Series II, IIA, and III 109" long wheelbase models with 2.6L 6-cylinder petrol, Stage 1 V8 petrol, and the 109" 1-Ton variant. This is the left-hand front (LH) cylinder only. Cross-references GWC301 and BR 2274. The right-hand front equivalent is available separately.
What are the signs of a failing wheel cylinder on a Series?
A leaking wheel cylinder typically shows as brake fluid weeping from behind the brake drum, contamination of the brake shoes, or a pulling sensation to one side during braking. A sticking piston causes dragging at that wheel. On older Series vehicles, internal corrosion of the cylinder bore is a common failure mode.
Can I replace just one wheel cylinder, or should I do both front cylinders together?
It's good practice to replace both front wheel cylinders as a pair. If one has failed, the other is typically of similar age and condition. Replacing both ensures balanced braking force side-to-side and prevents a repeat job on the other side shortly after.
