Bump Stop - rear suspension bump stop that limits the upward travel of the axle at full compression. The moulded rubber block cushions the contact between axle and chassis, absorbing the impact of severe bumps and heavy-load compression.

Mounted above the rear axle, it protects the springs, dampers and chassis from bottoming-out damage and controls the end of suspension travel. A perished or missing bump stop allows metal-to-metal contact and harsh crashing over bumps.

Frequently asked questions

What does the ANR2991 rear bump stop do?
The ANR2991 rear bump stop limits the upward travel of the rear axle at full compression on the Discovery 1 (1989-1998). The moulded rubber block cushions the axle against the chassis, absorbing heavy bumps and stopping metal-to-metal contact under load.
Where is the rear bump stop fitted?
The rear bump stop sits above the rear axle on the Discovery 1, between the axle and the chassis. It sets the end of suspension travel and protects the coil springs, dampers and chassis from bottoming-out damage.
What are the signs a bump stop needs replacing?
Harsh crashing or banging over bumps typically means the rear bump stop has perished or gone missing. Once the rubber breaks down the axle contacts the chassis directly, which can damage the springs and dampers. Replacing it restores cushioned travel.
How do I confirm the ANR2991 fits my Discovery 1?
The ANR2991 fits the Discovery 1 (1989-1998) built from VIN FA393361 to WA799999. Check your chassis number against this range before ordering, as suspension parts changed across the production run.
