Blanking Plug - Camshaft Oil Feed is an engine oil gallery plug that seals the camshaft oil feed port in the cylinder block or head.

The plug closes an oil feed passage that is present in the casting but not used in certain configurations, preventing oil loss and maintaining correct oil pressure within the lubrication circuit. It is used on 2.5L 4-cylinder petrol and TDi diesel engine applications.

Frequently asked questions

What does the camshaft blanking plug do?
The camshaft blanking plug seals an oil feed port in the cylinder block casting that isn't used in certain engine builds, preventing oil loss and keeping correct oil pressure in the lubrication circuit. It fits 2.5L 4-cylinder petrol and 200TDi/300TDi diesel Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic engines.
Does the blanking plug need replacing if removed?
Replace the blanking plug if it's removed, corroded, or weeping, since a plug that doesn't seal cleanly can cause an oil leak or loss of oil pressure. These plugs are typically renewed during an engine rebuild or whenever the oil galleries are disturbed.
How do I confirm the right plug for my engine?
On the Discovery 1 this plug covers the 2.5L 200TDi up to VIN LA081991 and the 300TDi up to VIN MA081992; on the Range Rover Classic it fits from VIN JA610294. Check your VIN against these breaks to confirm the correct cylinder block.
