ETC8496LUCAS - Temperature Sensor – V8 EFI
This sensor monitors coolant temperature and sends a continuous signal to the engine management ECU, which uses it to adjust fuel injection timing and duration across the warm-up cycle and at steady operating temperature. As a thermistor-type sensor, its internal resistance changes with coolant temperature to provide the ECU with an accurate reading. A failed or drifting sensor can cause difficult cold starting, incorrect idle, or increased fuel consumption as the ECU operates outside of the correct temperature correction map.
