Coolant Expansion Tank for the engine cooling system, serving as the pressurised header and overflow reservoir.

The tank accommodates coolant expansion as the system reaches operating temperature and returns it as the engine cools, maintaining correct coolant volume across the circuit. An integrated level sensor signals the instrument cluster when coolant falls below the minimum level.

Fitted to both TDV6 diesel and V8 petrol applications. On earlier vehicles a separate bleed screw (LR007314) and sealing washer (LR007315) may also be required when fitting.

Frequently asked questions

What does the coolant overflow tank do on a Land Rover?
The coolant overflow tank is the pressurised header and overflow reservoir for the engine cooling system. It takes up coolant expansion as the engine heats and returns it on cool-down, keeping the circuit topped up. An integrated level sensor warns the instrument cluster when coolant drops too low.
Which Land Rover models does this expansion tank fit?
This expansion tank fits the Discovery 3 (2005-2009), Discovery 4 (2010-2016) and Range Rover Sport L320. It's used on both TDV6 diesel and V8 petrol applications, so confirm your engine and use your VIN to check which tank variant your vehicle needs.
Why do coolant expansion tanks fail on these vehicles?
Coolant expansion tanks typically fail because the moulded plastic becomes brittle with age and repeated heat cycling, leading to cracks, seam splits or a leaking cap seat. Signs include coolant loss, a low-level warning, or visible weeping around the tank. Left unchecked this can cause the engine to overheat.
Is this a direct replacement for the original tank?
Yes, this tank is a direct replacement that interchanges with the original part numbers LR020367A, PCF500015A, PCF500110 and LR013663. It carries a 3 year guarantee. The coolant level sensor is built into the tank, matching the original fitment.
