Sump Gasket for the Rover V8 4.0 and 4.6 petrol engine, sealing the oil sump to the underside of the cylinder block.

This is the one-piece rubber-type gasket, which seals the full perimeter of the sump flange and replaces the earlier cork and sealant arrangement. It retains the engine oil held in the sump and prevents leakage at the block-to-sump joint. Renewal is required whenever the sump is removed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LVF100400 sump gasket used for?
The LVF100400 sump gasket seals the oil sump to the block on the Rover V8 4.0 and 4.6 petrol engine, fitted to the Discovery 2 and Range Rover P38. It seals the full perimeter of the sump flange, retaining engine oil and preventing leaks at the joint.
Is this the one-piece rubber gasket or the old cork type?
This is the one-piece rubber-type sump gasket, which seals the full flange perimeter and replaces the earlier cork and sealant arrangement on the Rover V8. It typically fits without extra sealant, making it cleaner to install than the multi-piece cork setup.
When should the sump gasket be replaced?
Replace the V8 sump gasket whenever the sump is removed. A rubber gasket that's been compressed and disturbed usually leaks at the block-to-sump joint once refitted, so fitting a fresh gasket on reassembly is standard practice.
