Brand Glyco
Connecting Rod Bearing Set for the Rover V8 petrol engine. These are the big-end bearing shells that sit between the connecting rods and the crankshaft journals within the engine's rotating assembly.

The bearings carry the connecting rods on the crankshaft big-end journals, providing the load-bearing surface and oil-film clearance for the reciprocating assembly. A full set covers all connecting rods.

This set is supplied in standard size, for use with a crankshaft whose big-end journals are at their original nominal diameter.

Frequently asked questions

What is the STC1426 Conrod Bearing Set used for?
The STC1426 conrod bearing set provides the big-end bearing shells that sit between the connecting rods and the crankshaft journals on the Rover V8 petrol engine. They carry the rods on the crankshaft and hold the oil-film clearance for the rotating assembly. Supplied by Glyco in standard size.
Does one STC1426 set cover the whole engine?
Yes, one STC1426 set covers all the connecting rods on the Rover V8, so you don't order per cylinder. It's the standard-size big-end bearing set, matched to a crankshaft whose big-end journals are at their original nominal diameter.
What does 'standard' size mean for these bearings?
Standard size means the STC1426 shells suit a Rover V8 crankshaft whose big-end journals are at their original nominal diameter. If the crank has been reground undersize, you'll need the matching undersize bearing set instead. Check the journals or your machine shop's measurements before ordering.
When are the conrod bearings usually replaced?
Conrod bearings are typically replaced during a Rover V8 rebuild or when there's a big-end knock, low oil pressure, or worn shells found on inspection. Running worn big-end bearings can damage the crankshaft journals, so they're usually renewed as a set once wear shows.
Which Land Rovers does the STC1426 fit?
The STC1426 fits the Rover V8 EFI petrol engine in the Defender V8 (1987-2006), Discovery 1 (from VIN FA393361), Discovery 2 V8, Range Rover Classic and Range Rover P38 (4.0 and 4.6 V8). Confirm your engine is the standard-journal V8 before ordering.
