Aftermarket: Quality alternative. This is a quality alternative, designed to fit and function like the original part, often at a more competitive price.
Exhaust Valve for the 2.6L 6-cylinder IOE (inlet-over-exhaust) petrol engine, forming part of the cylinder head and block valvetrain.

The exhaust valve seals against its seat to close the combustion chamber during induction and combustion, then opens on the exhaust stroke to release spent gases into the exhaust port. In the inlet-over-exhaust layout the exhaust valves are carried in the cylinder block and operated by the camshaft through tappet and pushrod, while the inlet valves sit overhead in the cylinder head.

Frequently asked questions

What does the STC1119 exhaust valve do on the 2.6L 6-cylinder engine?
The STC1119 exhaust valve seals the combustion chamber, then opens on the exhaust stroke to release spent gases into the exhaust port. On the 2.6L 6-cylinder IOE (inlet-over-exhaust) engine the exhaust valves sit in the cylinder block and are driven by the camshaft through tappet and pushrod.
Which Land Rover models use the STC1119 exhaust valve?
The STC1119 exhaust valve fits the Land Rover Series 2 and 3 with the 2.6L 6-cylinder IOE petrol engine. This is the larger six-cylinder unit fitted to long-wheelbase Series models, distinct from the four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
How many exhaust valves are needed for the 2.6L engine?
One STC1119 covers a single exhaust valve. The 2.6L is a six-cylinder engine with one exhaust valve per cylinder, so a full set is typically six. Many rebuilders renew the inlet and exhaust valves together when the head and block are stripped for an overhaul.
Why do exhaust valves fail and when should they be replaced?
Exhaust valves run extremely hot and can burn, pit or lose their seal over time, causing low compression, misfires and lost power. On these older 2.6L engines they're typically renewed during a top-end or full engine rebuild, or when a leak-down test shows a valve isn't sealing.
